On the second loop, R-L: Martin Fagan, Rod Koborsi, Chris Esselborn, Kurt Benninger, and Chris Lukezic led...
...then our camera malfunctioned and we didn't get anything until the finish. Bobby Curtis put in a mad finishing...
...kick to pull away from Chris Lukezic around the final backstop.
Curtis, a sophomore at Villanova, was a national mile champion in high school, but Chris Lukezic...
...a junior, had finished fourth in the Olympic Trials 1,500m in July, so Curtis needed a blazing finish...
...to pull away and hold Lukezic off. Curis won in 23:26...
...and Lukezic finished second in 23:29.
Rod Koborsi finished third in 23:39 and Georgetown...
...was the first team with two runners across the finish line.
Providence's Martin Fagan finished fourth in 23:43...
...and Dylan Wykes finished fifth in 23:48. At this point, things were looking good for Georgetown, Providence, and Villanova...
...but then Notre Dame took the next four spots. Kurt Benninger (#428) finished seventh in 23:54.
#434 Tim Moore passed Benninger to take sixth in 23:53.
#438 Kaleb Van Ort finished eighth in 23:54 and Sean O'Donnell finished ninth in 23:55.
Providence's Pat Moulton finished 10th in 24:05.
Villanova's Marc Pelerin finished 11th in 24:07.
Georgetown's Chris Esselborn finished 12th in 24:10.
Villanova's Andrew "Kippy" Keino finished 13th in 24:15.
Providence's Max Smith (14th, 24:16) was the first freshman to finish.
Fleet Hower (left, 15th, 24:25) and Steve Meinelt (16th, 24:25) went 4-5 for Georgetown, and then it was just a question of when Notre Dame's fifth runner would come across the line.
