The start of the 2004 Foot Locker Midwest Regional.
The temperatures were in the 40s and the course was very wet and muddy.
#4 Daniel Roberts gets out well.
Mohamud Ige, a junior at Denver South High School...

Roberts and #217 Landon Peacock (who wound up 60th) follow.
Ige went through the mile in 4:50, one second ahead of Levi Fox.
Ige is a native of Somalia. He finished second at this year's Colorado...
...4A state meet. Despite being a top runner last year as well...
...Ige didn't come close to qualifying for Foot Locker nationals in 2003, when he was 43rd at the Midwest Regional.

Levi Fox, a senior from Troy, Ohio, runs in second place.
Waterford, Michigan's Justin Switzer was a Foot Locker finalist in 2003.
Rob Finnerty, a freshman from Burnsville, Minnesota.
Jeff See, a senior from Middletown, Ohio, came from behind to win the race in 15:22.
See is best known for having broken Alan Webb's sophomore mile record, but he showed that he can run cross country, too.
Levi Fox finished second in 15:23.
Ige, the early leader, hung on for third (15:33).
John Black, a senior from Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, finished fourth in 15:34.
Justin Switzer finished fifth in 15:37 and qualified for his second-straight Foot Locker nationals.
