The start of the boys' seeded mile.
The first two laps were crowded and not particularly fast.
With one lap to go, St. Anthony's (NY) Thomas Murphy pushed the pace.
Eventual winner Sam Fletcher of Edward Little (ME) ran a little way back.
Fletcher earned the victory with his lean...
...which ended up going a little too far.
These photos almost make it look like Murphy pushed Fletcher...
...to the track, but that was not the case.
Fletcher went down hard and took a while to get up, but he appeared...
...to be okay. He won the race in 4:22.40.
Fletcher was a little dirty but looked happy minutes after the race.
Murphy finished second by .13 (4:22.53).
The start of the first and presumably fastest heat of the boys' 800m.
The race was pretty physical at the start.
With one lap to go, it's (R-L) Chris Green, Michael Webley, and Matthew Licardi.
#7 is eventual runner up Tim Clark of Lyman Hall (1:55.11).
Webley of Transit Tech (Brooklyn, NY) was the only runner of the day...
...to break 1:55. He crossed the line in 1:54.24.
Webley is a senior at Transit Tech.
Elliot Henry of Exeter won the third heat in 1:55.46, fast enough to earn him third place overall.
