One lap to go in the first of two 800m prelims.
Jeremiah Johnson finished seventh in 1:50.94 and did not advance.
Moise Joseph (#428) won the first prelim in 1:48.19, Nate Brannen (#483)...
...finished second in 1:48.50 and also advanced automatically. TCU's Jackson Langat (3rd, 1:48.75)...
...was the only other runner to advance from the first heat. Aaron Nasers of Nebraska missed out by .08.

Inge had won the USA Junior 800m title outdoors the previous spring...
...and was having a great sophomore year.
