Alistair Cragg and Robert Cheseret buth hung back in the pack for the first half of the 10,000m final.
University of New Mexico junior Matt Gonzales led through 3K in 9:14.
R-L: Illinois' Jason Bill, Iona's Joe McAlister, and UCSB's Chris White.
Jason Sandfort led through 4K in 12:15.
St. Francis (PA) junior Ryan Sheehan.
Oregon senior Ryan Andrus.
Northern Arizona's Travis Laird runs in second place.
Surprisingly, Brett Gotcher was NCAA XC team champion Stanford's only representative in this race.
Shortly after finishing fifth in the 10,000m, Melissa Gulli sat on the track and cheered for her fiance, Andrew Cook.
Just before the halfway point, Alistair Cragg sprinted to the front and took charge of the race.
Arizona's Robert Cheseret covered Cragg's move immediately.
The rest of the field had a little more trouble with it, though. Matt Gonzales runs in third with Simon Bairu in fourth.
Chad Pearson, Travis Laird, and Ryan Sheehan run 5-6-7.
Brett Gotcher leads Jason Bill, Ollie Laws, and Andrew Cook.
Cragg led through 6K in 17:56.4 (a 2:44.6 kilometer split) and Cheseret stuck to him like glue.
At the Pac-10 Championships, Cheseret held off some great competition to win the 1,500, 5,000, and 10,000.
Chad Pearson runs in fifth place.
Ryan Sheehan.
Arkansas junior Jason Sandfort.
Ryan Andrus (who did not finish the race) leads Wisconsin's Tim Keller.
