The first lap of the 3,000m steeplechase final.
The race was held just as the sun was setting behind the water jump...
...so we tried for a different angle.
L-R: Andy Smith, Ian Dobson, Jordan Desilets, and Aaron Fisher...
...moved to the front of the race early on.
L-R: Desilets, Fisher, Soeren Lindner, Brian Olinger, and Kenneth Richardson.
Downtown Austin was once again visible in the background, so from the right angle...
...it looked like these athletes were leaping tall buildings in a single bound.
Texas' Mark Floreani and Florida's Daniel Parker.
Smith continues to lead by a slight margin.
The rest of the field stays close.
Because Texas' water pit is on the outside, the runners went over the water barrier on each lap.
Memphis' Mate Nemeth and Boston University's Jochen Dieckfoss.
L-R: Brett Holts, Daniel Parker, and Matt Adams push off the water barrier in unison.
Mark Floreani finished ninth in 9:03.45.
