L-R: SMU's Soeren Lindner, Florida's Steve Zieminski, Weber State's...
...Kenneth Richardson, and Ohio State's Brian Olinger compete in the steeplechase final.
Jochen Dieckfoss leads Daniel Parker and Brett Holts.
Andy Smith continues to lead the race, with Stanford's Ian Dobson and Eastern...
...Michigan's Jordan Desilets close behind.
By this point, it was a three-man race for the win.
Jordan Desilets had finished second in this race...
...behind Daniel Lincoln, one year ago.
Dobson did not contest this event last year, and Andy Smith finished seventh.
Desilets puts a hand on Smith's back...
...presumably to stabilize himself.
Of the three, Dobson has probably had the most success as a "flat" runner...
...(without the barriers), but the barriers are an equalizer...
...for the three runners. Due to the hot and humid weather in Austin...
...few of the distance runners set personal bests at this meet.
Ohio State junior Brian Olinger.
SMU sophomore Soeren Lindner finished 13th in 9:15.28.
Jordan Desilets made one strong move and no one could stay with him.
He cruised to victory in 8:42.64 and broke Anthony Famiglietti's stadium record...
...of 8:47.41, which he set in 2000 while representing the University of Tennessee.
