R-L: Fitts, David Krummenacker, Sam Burley, David Paulsen, Lubert Lewis, and Floyd Thompson.
Burley (behind Fitts) was the 2003 NCAA 800m champion as a senior at Penn.
David Krummenacker won the 2003 World Indoor title in this event.

...in 1:47.99. Christian Smith of Kansas State finished second in 1:48.06 to advance.
David Krummenacker (3rd, 1:48.09) and Sam Burley (1:48.18) also advanced.
Though he hadn't done much of note this year, Krummenacker was still the race favorite.
The Nike Farm Team's Andrew Neugebauer (6th, 1:48.64) missed advancing by less than half of a second.
Paulsen finished seventh in 1:48.84.
Jonathan Johnson, who had won the NCAA title just under one month earlier, gets ready for the third quarterfinal heat.
Current UConn runner Joel Legare, running in his first Olympic Trials, would finish sixth in 1:49.4.
L-R: Elliott Blount, Jonathan Johnson, and James Hatch at the start.
Legare set the pace on the first lap.
R-L: Legare, Hatch, Johnson, Blount, and Brian Rue.
Behind Johnson, Blount, and Rue are (R-L) Hatch, Derrick Peterson, Bryan Woodward, and Kevin Elliott.
Penn's Courtney Jaworski runs at the back of the pack.
Johnson (right) had the lead down the homestretch, but eased up significantly and finished fourth in 1:48.87 to advance.
Derrick Peterson, who heartbreakingly did not advance to the final at the 2000 Trials, advanced safely here, winning his...
...heat in 1:47.83. James Hatch (2nd, 1:48.40) and Elliott Blount (3rd, 1:48.67) also advanced.
