Andy Smith finished ninth (8:38.35) in the first semifinal and did not advance.
Carl Blackhurst finished 10th in 8:39.29.
Brooks qualified for the Trials by running a PR 8:36.3 in June.
Steve Slattery runs in second place.
Mike DiGennaro finished eighth in 8:36.48 and was the fastest runner who did not advance to the final.
