...finished third in 8:30.01 and advanced to the final.
Sandu Rebenciuc of the U.S. Army finished fourth in 8:30.45 and advanced.
John Mortimer finished fifth in 8:32.50 and advanced on time.
David Cullum (leading, 6th, 8:33.43) and Kevin Barra (7th, 8:35.19) both advanced.
Michael Spence finished eighth in 8:36.68 and just missed advancing.

Lyle Weese finished 11th in 8:52.71.
