With just under 1,000 meters to go in the Olympic Trials steeplechase...
...final, (L-R) Robert Gary, Daniel Lincoln, and Anthony Famiglietti...
...broke away. Steve Slattery was still close behind in fourth...
...and others were still within striking distance, but the race was on.
Famiglietti leads the way.
Steve Slattery works hard to keep contact.
John Mortimer runs the race of his life in fifth place.
Darin Shearer and Kevin Barra run 6-7.
With less than 1,000 meters to go, Isaiah Festa was in eighth place.
Ray Hughes would finish ninth in 8:28.64.
The U.S. Army's Sandu Rebenciuc.
Jordan Desilets leads Jared Cordes and David Cullum.
Daniel Lincoln begins an extended drive for the finish line and takes...
...a lead over Anthony Famiglietti and Robert Gary.
Note that eventual fourth-place finisher Isaiah Festa wasn't even in the picture...
...at this point (about 550 meters to go).
Steve Slattery appeared to be struggling in fourth.
Darin Shearer and John Mortimer run 5-6 on their penultimate lap.
Festa runs in seventh place with just over 500 meters to go.
Sandu Rebenciuc made it this far, but was listed as a DNF in the results.
