Whatever Michael Stember was trying to communicate down the homestretch...
...Alan Webb ignored it. Stember won in 3:39.74, with Webb second in 3:39.92.
Rob Myers (3rd, 3:39.96), Chris Estwanik (4th, 3:40.32)...
...Scott McGowan, and Drew Griffin (6th, 3:41.52) all advanced to the final.
Rob Myers finishes third.
Though there was a lot of pressure on Webb to make a good showing here, the fact that he had...
...the "A" standard meant that no matter where he finished, he had a good chance of making the team.
Scott McGowan (fifth, 3:40.97) congratulates Alan Webb.
Nike Farm Team teammates Drew Griffin (left) and Chris Estwanik both advanced.
Brendan Rodgers moves to the front on the first lap of the 5,000m final.
Because there was only one athlete in the field (Jonathon Riley) with the...
...Olympic "A" standard and two (Louis Luchini and Jorge Torres)...
...who had the "B" standard, most of the athletes in the field wanted a fast...
...race here. And because nearly half of the athletes in the field had some...
...ties to the Nike Farm Team, they seemed to be working together...
...to set a quick pace.
R-L: Jon Riley, Chad Johnson, Bolota Asmerom, Ahman Dirks, and Mark Menefee.
