Just past the 1,000m mark of the 5,000m final...
...at the 2004 U.S. Olympic T&F Trials.
Seth Hejny, originally from Grand Junction, Colorado, recently finished out his eligibility at Stanford.
1,400 meters into the 5,000m race, Brendan Rodgers takes a turn in the lead.
Though he was a longshot to make the team, Rodgers seemed to sacrifice his own chances...
...here to help his teammates. He eventually finished last.
R-L: Sean Graham, Matt Lane, and Eric Savoth follow Rodgers.
Savoth leads Bolota Asmerom and Jon Riley.
1,800 meters in, Rodgers continues to lead with Matt Lane in second.
Mark Menefee leads Ahman Dirks and Chad Johnson.
2,200 meters in, former Georgetown runner Eric Savoth takes a turn in the lead.
R-L: Matt Lane, Bolota Asmerom, and Tim Broe run 2-3-4.
Matt Lane takes over the lead and Eric Savoth runs in second place.
Jorge Torres leads James Carney and Seth Hejny.
The Nike Farm Team's Brendan Rodgers begins to drop back.
At the 3,000 mark, Bolota Asmerom moves to the front and is followed by (R-L) Matt Lane, Jon Riley, and Tim Broe.
Hansons-Brooks' Mark Menefee and New Mexico's Matt Gonzales run behind Broe and Riley.
Louis Luchini leads Luke Watson and Jorge Torres. Luchini ran the "B" standard earlier in the season...
...but had struggled with a nagging achilles injury since then.
Team USA Monterey Bay's James Carney finished sixth in the 10,000 final earlier in the Trials.
