Notre Dame graduate and current Team USA Minnesota runner Luke Watson with one lap to go.
Seth Hejny (13th, 13:51.11) leads James Carney (15th, 14:00.34).
Tim Broe pulled away from Bolota Asmerom and Jon Riley on the last lap to win in 13:27.36.
Because Broe didn't have the "A" or "B" standard, he was not automatically on...
...the Olympic team, but he would have the opportunity to chase the...
...standard until August 9th. Broe eventually ran under the "A" standard...
...which put both him and Jon Riley (who already had the "A" standard)...
...on the Olympic team.
Jon Riley finished second in 13:30.85 and Bolota Asmerom was third in 13:32.77.
Riley didn't know it yet, but he qualified for the Olympic team. Despite finishing third...
...Asmerom did not. Matt Lane finished fourth (13:33.51) for the second Trials in a row.
Chad Johnson finished eighth in 13:43.24.
Eric Savoth held off Ahman Dirks and Sean Graham to finish ninth in 13:45.16.
Jorge Torres ran a strong last lap to finish seventh in 13:41.79.
Having the "A" standard ahead of time really paid off for Riley.
Matt Gonzales made a strong showing, finishing sixth in 13:41.25.
