Kevin Sullivan continues to run in fourth place, but Tim Broe closes in.
Markos Geneti moves into the lead...
...and Alistair Cragg runs in second.
Kenenisa Bekele remains in third.
Tim Broe moves past Kevin Sullivan, into fourth place.
Broe was a 2004 Olympic finalist at 5,000m and he won this event...
...at the 2001 and 2002 USA Indoor Championships.
With 500 meters to go, Alistair Cragg made a decisive move to the lead, and Kenenisa Bekele covered it right away.
Charlie Gruber (left, eighth, 8:05.76) and Steve Slattery (ninth, 8:05.99).
Bekele made his own even-more-decisive move with just over 300 meters to go. At first, it just appeared that he was...
...kicking from 300 meters out, but as he came up the homestretch, he ran wide...
...and it became apparent that he had miscounted the laps and thought he was finishing.
Bekele quickly realized his error and headed off for another lap, but Alistair Cragg...
...had his opening. With one lap to go in this crazy race, the win was up for grabs.
Tim Broe wound up fourth in 7:44.87.
Jon Riley (sixth, 7:51.63) leads Kevin Sullivan (fifth, 7:50.75).

Cragg took advantage of Bekele's error and went by him...
...on the final lap, to earn a surprising win in 7:39.89.
We've photographed Cragg winning enough races by now that we should have expected the...
...airplane arms at the finish and zoomed out on this shot!
