Chris
Mulvaney kicked by Ryan Hayden on the last lap to
secure the repeat win for Arkansas.
Arkansas'
winning time was 9:34.76 with Michigan second in 9:35.80
and Villanova third (9:35.95).

The
meet marked the unveiling of the new USATF mascot,
Spike. Here Spike sits down to watch the 800.
L-R:
Bryan Woodward, Neil Speaight and Elliott Blount at
the start of the 800.
Otukile
Lekote of Botswana and South Carolina moved to the
lead immediately, with a 24-second opening 200m.
The
rest of the field trailed significantly.
Derrick
Peterson and Trinity Gray lead the chase pack.
Lubert
Lewis runs in the pack.
Lekote
frequently, if not always, employs this go-hard-from-the-gun
strategy and it frequently works.
The
question would be if Gray (left) or Daniel Caulfield,
or anyone else, would be able to catch Lekote in time.
With
one lap to go, Lekote's lead was still sizeable but
he was looking more vulnerable.
It
was Derrick Peterson who came the closest to catching
Lekote...
...but
Lekote held him off - barely - 1:48.07 to 1:48.10.
Caulfield finished third in 1:48.62.
L-R:
Jason Lunn, Michael Stember and Berhanu Alemu at the
start of the mile.
James
Karanu was the designated pacesetter.

Karanu
leads, Bernard Lagat, David Krummenacker and the rest
of the field follows.
Karanu
led the field through 800 meters in 1:57.
Jason
Lunn runs in the pack.
Laban
Rotich, Krummenacker and Abdelkader Hachlaf follow
Lagat.
