L-R: Erik Necciai, Elliot Blount, Jesse O'Connell, Eric Morrison and Ezra Richards.
Jason Jabaut of Villanova builds a significant lead on the first lap.
It's not often that this strategy works in an 800-meter race, but this time it almost did.
The pack, including Hayden, Necciai, Blount and Najjar, let Jabaut go.
Georgetown's Jesse O'Connell and Notre Dame's Eric Morrison run in the back of the pack.
Heading into the home stretch, Jabaut continued to lead...
...but Hayden closed well to win in 1:50.47.
Elliot Blount of UConn came up for second (1:50.66).
Jabaut hung on to finish third in 1:50.70.
Jesse O'Connell came up for fourth (1:51.00).
Hayden congratulates Jabaut.
The start of the steeplechase final, Luke Watson leads Ian Collings.
Georgetown's Corey Smith runs in third.
Georgetown's Adam Daniels and UConn's Ken Goglas.
On the backstretch, near the 800 meter mark, Watson continues to lead Collings and Smith.
Providence's Pat Guidera leads Notre Dame's David Alber over the water barrier.
L-R: Georgetown's Daniels, West Virginia's Tim Mason and UConn's Goglas.
Luke Watson continues to lead.
Within several laps, it became clear that Watson would dominate the race.
