Georgetown's Kyle Smits' 8:12.76 in the "B" 3000 on Friday was a meet record...for a few hours.
Eric Bell (5th) of Tennessee and Matt Spring (2nd) of Manhattan College in the "B" 3000.
Jose Zayas of St. Johns busted a 4:06 split in the University Division DMR on Friday.
John Bitok of Syracuse in the University Division DMR.
In the Championship Division DMR, Don Sage of Stanford built a huge lead on the opening leg with his 2:54 1200.
Stanford sophomore Seth Hejny on the 800 leg of the DMR.
Tennessee freshman Marc Sylvester ran a wicked 800 leg to pull the Vols to within inches of Stanford.
But Stanford anchor Grant Robinson slammed the door on the rest of the field with his 4:00.3 split, pulling the Cardinal to an auto NCAA qualifier.
The final events of Friday evening belonged to the invited runners. Trinity Gray won the 800 in 1:46.12, the fastest time in the world this year.
Multiple-time national champion Khadevis Robinson was second in 1:48.48.
Westchester Puma's Nick Gantt in the Invitational 800.
Andrew Graffin of NYAC/adidas, a semi-finalist in the Sydney Olympics, manhandled the Invitational Mile field in 3:57.48.
Chris Bennet (4:03.56)t and Drew Griffin (4:03.89) of the Nike Farm Team in the Invitational Mile.
Brian Baker in the Invitational Mile, 4:10.19.
We were kind of surprised to see new masters world record holder Marcus O'Sullivan setting the pace in the "A" 3000 on Saturday afternoon.
O'Sullivan pulled the field through 2K before stepping off and letting Corey Smith (4th), Jonathan Fauslo (6th), Franklyn Sanchez (DNF), and Aaron Fisher (8th) take over.
Georgetown's Corey Smith leads Villanova's Ryan Haden (2nd) and Stanford's Seth Hejny during the final kilometer.
Hejny, who sat in the pack the entire race, took control in the final 300 meters to win in 7:59.91, an auto NCAA qualifier and a meet record.
Princeton junior Michael Baird in the "A" 3000.
Keith Kimmons of Tennessee, 13th in the "A" 3000.
Georgetown sophomore Jesse O'Connell slipped under the meet record and the NCAA provisional mark with his 1:49.83 win in the "A" 800. Tennessee's Marc Sylvester was second in 1:50.57.
The Championship Division "A" mile was moved to the end of the meet. Georgetown's Dylan Welsh, Stanford's Grant Robinson, and Villanova's Adrian Blincoe set the early pace.
Robinson (2nd, 4:00.73) leads teammate Don Sage (DNF).
Jeff Wood, 3rd in 4:03.17, leads last year's winner Clay Schwabe of Army, 4th in 4:05.32.
It was all Blincoe, though, as he won by more than two seconds in 3:58.19.
