A big pack just past the half mile mark.
L-R across the front: Henry Kipchirchir, Thomas Omwenga, David Njuguna, Patrick Nthiwa, James Koskei, Eliya Sidame and Shadrack Kosgei.
About three and a half minutes into the race a large pack leads the way.
Past the mile mark, Shadrack Kosgei (#18) leads James Koskei (#29), Eliya Sidame (in white), Patrick Nthiwa (#17), Francis Komu (#71) and David Njuguna (#19).
Though the pack was dominated by Kenyans, Americans Dan Browne and Mebrahtom Keflezighi (in the back) hung with them for most of the race.
