Charlie Gruber chases pacesetter Erik Nedeau but leads the field around the halfway point of the mile.
On the third lap, New Zealand's Adrian Blincoe put in a big surge and gained some distance on the field.
Blincoe went through in 3:01.3...
...with Dan Wilson and Sam Vasquez running 2-3.
Brendan Rodgers (left) and Sean O'Brien with just over a lap to go.
Tom Parlapian would finish fifth in 4:03.15.
Jason Long finished ninth in 4:11.39.
Dan Wilson made up significant ground on Adrian Blincoe in the last lap...
...passing him down the home stretch and winning in 3:59.83.
Blincoe hung on to finish second in 4:00.98.
Keith Kelly finished third in 4:01.77.
Brendan Rodgers finished fourth in 4:02.55.
Sam Vasquez ran in third place through 1400 meters before visibly tying up.
He struggled home in a still-quick 4:05.69. Vasquez will attend the University of Arkansas beginning in the Fall of 2003.
Ray Weeden finished eighth in 4:11.36.
Sean O'Brien (left, 7th, 4:10.92) and Jason Long (9th, 4:11.39).
Charlie Gruber finished 10th in 4:13.30.
This was Wilson's first sub-4:00 mile outdoors...
...And the crowd always likes to see another athlete run under 4:00 on Maine soil.
