Adam Davis of Rice won heat one of the men's 800 prelims in 1:50.76, #513 Jeff Ellis was a non-qualifying 5th.
Collegiate leader Otukile Lekote of South Carolina took heat two out fast, Dirk Heinze of Arkansas followed.
L-R: Jason Van Swol (2nd), Jeff DeLong (5th - fastest non-qualifier in 1:49.43), Heinze (1st), Lekote (3rd) and Patrick Nduwimana (4th).
Florida freshman Moise Joseph won the 3rd 800 heat in 1:50.23. He's followed by Solomon Birir (4th), Viktors Lacis (3rd), Roman Oravec (2nd) and Toby Henkels (5th).
Collegiate record holder Andrew Pierce of Ohio State won the first heat of the men's 400 in a quick 45.87.
Heat one of two in the men's mile, featuring (L-R) Joel Atwater, Carlos Suarez, Nathan Uselding, Ryan Travis, Charlie Gruber, Christian Goy and Jeremy Tolman.
Gruber, Travis and Goy go 1-4-2 in heat one of the mile, all advancing to the final.
Heat two of two in the men's mile. L-R: Gezachw Yossef, Clay Schwabe (who, sadly, fell with three laps to go and failed to advance) and Bryan Berryhill (with Gabe Jennings tucked in behind).
Jennings wins the second heat in 3:59.75, just edging out Berryhill (3:59.90).
The men's 5,000m final - Matt Lane leads, followed by Stephen Ondieki (#414) and David Kimani.
Stanford's Jonathon Riley runs in the pack. He finished 4th in 13:51.68.
Fairleigh Dickinson's Ondieki, the 2000 NCAA XC runner-up, finished 6th here in 13:52.31.
Washington's David Bazzi (13th, 14:18.36) leads Dartmouth's Tom McArdle (10th, 14:04.09).
Providence's NCAA XC Champ. Keith Kelly and Arkansas' Daniel Lincoln (7th, 13:58.98) run in the pack.
Kimani was content to sit on Lane's shoulder through 3,000m...
...Before taking the lead with 1,900 meters to go.
Kimani stretches his lead over Lane.
Ian Connor (12th, 14:11.59), Tom McArdle and Ryan Shay (9th, 14:02.35).
Kimani held off a fast-closing Lane to win the NCAA title, 13:42.32 to 13:43.36.
Keith Kelly had an off day but closed extremely well to finish 3rd in 13:50.44.
Leadoff (1,200m) legs in the men's DMR. L-R: Nathan Sisco, Hunter Spencer, Don Sage, Dirk Heinze and Jason Long (leading).
Freshman Chris Mulvaney of Arkansas leads Geno White of Florida on the 800m leg.
Stanford's Jonathan Stevens and James Madison's Ian Scott trail slightly.
It essentially came down to a 1,600m race among anchors Chris Duncan, Gabe Jennings and Sharif Karie.
L-R: Chris Estwanik, Charlie Gruber, Ben Cooke and Thomas Morgan lead the second pack.
With just under three laps to go, Gabe Jennings made a huge move, blowing the race open and leading Stanford to a 4-second win.
Jennings crosses the line in 9:30.01.
Sharif Karie (Arkansas) edges out Chris Duncan (Florida) for second. Both teams were timed in 9:34.51.
