David Freeman finished second (4:06.26) and Hunter Spencer third (4:06.33), the top seven runners advanced.

It looks like a dual meet between Stanford and Arkansas, runners from the two teams made up 7/18 of the field.

Cragg was the defending champion, as well as a crowd favorite.

Cragg and Lincoln go straight to the lead, they're joined by Iona's Richard Kiplagat.
Cragg later apologized to his teammates for setting too fast of a pace, taking some of Arkansas' potential scorers out of contention.
Cragg leads with Kiplagat off his shoulder.

Neil Davis, a redshirt freshman at Stanford.
Cragg continues to lead Kiplagat and Lincoln.
Ben Dawson had a great season, winning the Big 12 3k and 5k.
Two weeks earlier, Ed Torres qualified for the U.S.'s World XC team and would compete in Lausanne two weeks later.
Peter Riley runs in the pack.
Daniel Lincoln temporarily gets bumped off the track.
Lincoln and Cragg took turns leading and Kiplagat stayed on the shoulder of the leader.
Jason Woolhouse and Ed Torres lead the second pack.
