Tjiroze was one of the surprising non-qualifiers here, he finished sixth in heat one (1:49.23).

On the first lap, Lekote leads, followed by BYU's Tjiroze and Kansas State's Lee.
Lekote leads Lee and Tjiroze.
R-L: Lee, Tjiroze, Henkels, Brannen, Murray and Freeman.
Lekote (1:46.49) and Brannen (1:47.00) were the two automatic qualifiers, Lee (1:47.92) and Murray (1:47.95) also advanced out of heat one.
Henkels (1:47.97), Tjiroze (1:49.23) and Freeman (1:56.27) did not advance.
Lekote will be the one to beat in the final.
Brannen has recovered well from a stress fracture that kept him out during the indoor season.
Freeman had a rough day and did not advance.
