Kansas senior Charlie Gruber gets ready for the 1,500 final.
Alan Webb, possibly making his last appearance in a Michigan singlet.
Montana junior Scott McGowan.
Stanford teammates Don Sage (left) and Grant Robison wish each other luck.
Gruber takes a moment to focus before the race.
They're off and running on one of the most anticipated races of the meet.
Michigan freshman Alan Webb leads as they cross the finish line for the first time.
Webb went through 400 in 58 seconds, it appeared he might be trying to run away from the field...
...With a mile PR of 3:53, it seemed possible that he could pull it off, but so few championships 1,500s are won that way.
Behind Webb it's Chris Mulvaney, Gruber, Adrian Blincoe, Robison and the rest of the pack.
Arizona State's Brandon Stron runs to the outside of Ryan Hayden, Dan Wilson (UConn) and Don Sage (Stanford) follow.
Approaching the 800 meter mark Webb continues to lead, but the bunched-up field indicates that the pace has slowed.
L-R: Wilson, Robison, Gruber, Mulvaney and Webb.
The leaders passed through 800 in 2:02 and the entire field was still in contention.
R-L: Hayden and Strong, Wilson, Sage, McGowan and Wisconsin's Josh Spiker.
R-L: Sage, McGowan and Spiker.
At 1,100 meters (one lap to go) Webb continues to lead...
...But it's anyone's race.
The order stayed the same throughout much of the race.
Note where Don Sage is, looking out over Grant Robison and Adrian Blincoe's shoulders in about 7th place.
