Lekote leads Johnson on lap one.
Lekote had looked vulnerable in the first round, finishing fifth in his heat...
...and advancing on time. The fact that the pack was so close to him on the first lap...
...seemed to mean that either he had changed strategies or he was in trouble.
R-L: Johnson, Aldwyn Sappleton, Stevens, Moise Joseph and O'Connell.
Joseph and O'Connell lead Ciurlys.
Ciurlys would finish eighth in 1:50.46 and fail to advance.
Johnson (1:47.05), Joseph (1:47.15) and Stevens (1:47.34) grabbed the automatic qualifying spots...
...while Sappleton (1:47.57) and O'Connell (1:47.73) advanced on time.
Lekote finished sixth in 1:48.09 and did not advance.
Jesse O'Connell grabbed the last time qualifier.
The two-time defending champion did not advance to the final.
