Meb Keflezighi pulled away around the halfway point...
...and had more than 20 seconds on the field by the time he reached the finish.
Keflezighi's 58:57 20k was not only good enough to win...
...it also broke the American Record for that distance.
The old record was 59:13, set by Paul Cummings in 1987.
Brian Sell had a breakthrough race to finish second.
His 59:18 was just seconds away from the old AR.
Sell later told Runner's World Online that up until this race...
...he was seriously contemplating retirement.
Sell will aim for an Olympic Trials qualifier at Chicago this fall — his marathon debut
Phillimon Hanneck had a strong race to finish third in 59:24.
Formerly a citizen of Zimbabwe, Hanneck is now a U.S. citizen.
Hanneck is part of the Nike Oregon Project under Alberto Salazar.
Ryan Kirkpatrick finished fourth in 59:32.
2000 U.S. Olympic marathoner Rod DeHaven finished fifth in 59:36.
Todd Reeser of Team USA New York ran a strong race...
...to finish sixth in 1:00:13.
