The race featured a $25,000 bonus for anyone who could break Alberto Salazar's 8k American Record of 22:04.
The rolling hills of Central Park made the already-tough record even more challenging.

Brian Sell of Hansons (#46) is also among the lead pack.

Though Abdirahman led the race, he never appeared to be comfortable.
In the lead it's Dan Browne, Anthony Famiglietti, Abdi Abdirahman and Dave Davis.
The pack passes by one of several groups of firefighters on the course, who were out to cheer for the their colleagues in the Police/Fire run.

Browne, Famiglietti and Abdirahman lead, and the pack stretches out behind them.
