The pack is down to ten: (L-R) Browne, Wells, Famiglietti, Broe, Swanson, Hughes, Abdirahman, Hauser and Williams. (And Downin who is completely obscured.)
Famiglietti, Browne, Abdirahman and Broe lead as runners head up the east side of Central Park.
#10 Anthony Famiglietti, a native Long Islander, begins to make a move.
 
"Fam" moves to the front and the others start to string out behind him.
 
Abdirahman looks like he's hurting, he would say later that he knew it wasn't his day from the beginning.
 
   
Browne, Broe (obscured) and Abdirahman hold on, Matt Downin, Clint Wells, Nolan Swanson and Ray Hughes try to.
Famiglietti pulls Browne and Broe along with him, Abdirahman appears to be struggling to keep up.
Famiglietti's move whittles the pack down to four.
Famiglietti continues to push the pace, Broe, Browne and Abdirahman hang on.
     
Famiglietti and Browne lead the way up Cat Hill.
