L-R, with just over a lap to go, it's James Madison's James Kays, NY high schooler Peter Meindl, Michael Poe and Chris Lukezic.
Meindl makes a move for the lead.
Lukezic (in green) responded to Meindl's move and took off down the back stretch.
Matthew Mereba, Kevin Jeffers and UC Irvine's David Santos bring up the rear.
Down the home stretch, it's all Lukezic.
Lukezic won in 3:54.07.
TX high schooler Brian Sullivan (2nd, 3:55.32) and Meindl (3rd, 3:55.74) both automatically advance.
Right behind Meindl and Sullivan is Giliat Ghebray, who also advanced to the final (3:56.26).
Colling Stark-Bens missed advancing by about two seconds. He finished in 4:00.51.

TX high schooler Will Fitts.
VA high schooler Richard Smith, who won the previous week's adidas Outdoor Championships 800.

L-R on lap one, CA high schooler Michael Haddan, Smith, Fitts and WA high schooler Carson Schmiett.
With one lap to go, Schmiett led, but he did not finish the race.
R-L it's Francois, Smith, Haddan, Moll and Penn State's Tim Walker.
Moll leads Walker.
Smith won the heat in 1:50.90 with Fitts second (1:51.31). Francois and Moll also advanced.
Smith, wearing the high school uniform that Alan Webb made famous a year ago, congratulates Fitts.
