Paul Cross of South Plantation High School in Plantation, FL leads the race down the home stretch.
Cross won, advancing in 1:52.14. Also advancing were Johnson (1:52.84), Green (1:52.86), Hodges (1:52.91) and Smith (1:53.30).
Because Stanford has a nine-lane track, the final had nine runners, instead of the customary eight.
And next it was the grownups turn. Above: The meet results called this James Davis of Rice, but we're pretty sure it's Adam, unless he has a twin brother.

On the first lap, it's (L-R): Davis, USC's Kevin Elliott, Jesse Strutzel, Thompson and Trinity Gray.
On the inside (in purple) is Kansas State's Joseph Lee.
With one lap to go, everyone's in the race. The top three in each heat plus the next seven fastest times would advance.
R-L: Gray, Elliott, Strutzel and Davis.

Down the home stretch, Gray leads. He won the first heat in 1:49.03.
Also advancing from the first heat were Lee (1:49.21), Florida's Moise Joseph (1:49.27), Strutzel (1:49.46), Dunne (1:49.62) and Davis (1:50.00).
USC's Kevin Elliott (left) was the first non-qualifier.
