There's a little more uniform variety further back in the race.
Just past the 1,000-meter mark, Alan Culpepper leads Meb Keflezighi and Abdi Abdirahman.
Brad Hauser leads his twin brother, Brent.

After finishing third in the World Junior Championships last year, #14 Dathan Ritzenhein gave the senior race a try.
Ritzenhein started off well back in the pack and worked his way up.
